School Description and Mission Statement (School Year 2020–2021)

Synergy Charter Academy, a public charter school authorized by the Los Angeles Unified School District, serves 312 inner-city students in grades K-5. Synergy Charter Academy teaches a standards-based curriculum and focuses on implementing new approaches in instruction that can bring about positive changes in our urban schools.



Synergy Charter Academy opened its doors in August 2004 as a direct-funded charter school that serves students in grades K-5 in South Los Angeles. The school is authorized by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and is under Local District Central. Synergy Charter Academy was named a 2020 California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education.



Synergy Academies’ mission is to create and share solutions that eliminate the achievement gap. Synergy creates and shares solutions through the operation of urban public charter schools in South Los Angeles that implement a holistic approach to education, believe in collective accountability, and share best practices through professional collaboration. Our vision is to create model STEM schools that will empower students to be the next generation of problem solvers.
