School Description and Mission Statement (School Year 2020–2021)
Matrix for Success Academy is a non-classroom based, independent study charter high school. Located in Historic South Central Los Angeles, we serve students in grades 9-12 who are looking for a custom learning schedule that meets their needs and the needs of their family. Many of our students have not found academic success in a traditional school setting, but with our highly personalized approach, Matrix is able to equip students with the tools needed to re-engage in academics, recover and earn high school credits, and open up more options for themselves after high school.
Matrix for Success Academy centers our approach around meeting the needs of the whole student. We are staffed with not only a high school guidance counselor, but a school social worker and a behavior interventionist as well. Being able to meet the social-emotional needs of our students and families helps to re-engage students with their learning, create a positive relationship with school, and lead to academic growth, sometimes for the first time in years.
As we transition to operating in a post-pandemic climate, Matrix will still be able to meet the needs of our students and families. Our online curriculum means students can access their assignments anytime, anywhere. When we are able to open to students again, they'll be able to receive in-person support from teachers and our counseling team as well.
Matrix for Success Academy has established ourselves as a resource for our students, families, and the community we serve. We are proud of the work we do, the relationships we've built, and look forward to serving Historic South Central for years to come.
