Opportunities for Parental Involvement (School Year 2020–2021)

The success of Odyssey Charter Schools is partially attributed to the engagement and involvement of parents, families, and community supporters. Parental involvement is available to parents in both organized and organic manners.

The Odyssey Parent Participation Group (OPPG) functions as an inter-dependent parent body with the aim of supporting the programs and functions of the school through both financial and programmatic support. Each year, the OPPG hosts a Meet and Greet for families and staff, Morning coffee socials, restaurant nights, Parent's fundraisers, held in person and virtual parent group meetings, and many other events. Beyond these events and activities, parent involvement and engagement also takes the form of parent participation in students' learning. Annually, parents and teachers formulate students' individual learning plans which serve as a guide for a students' learning and development for the year. These learning plans are a critical component of the parent-student-teacher model of collaboration that is a hallmark of Odyssey Schools. Additionally, parents regularly find ways of collaborating with their classroom teacher as Mystery Readers, Guest Lecturers, or Classroom Volunteer opportunities.
