About Our School
Fieldbrook School serves a small rural community and offers students a safe, modern campus in the beautiful Fieldbrook Valley. In our valley, we have a general store, a community hall, a church, a volunteer fire department, an apple farm, a blueberry farm, and a winery. It is an exceptional small school setting with a caring staff committed to excellence and dedicated to successful learning for all. It is the only school in the Fieldbrook School District.
Fieldbrook School has always enjoyed a reputation for its quality academic programs and teaching staff , and its support for the fine arts. We take pride in the academic, musical, and physical abilities of our students. Academically, Fieldbrook School is among the top in Humboldt County. Fieldbrook School participated in the SBAC/CAASPP testing during the spring. 56% of the students tested in grades 3-8 Met or Exceeded Standards in English Language Arts, and 46% of the students tested Met or Exceeded Standards in math.
By closely following the vision and mission statements, the school community creates an environment where the “whole child” is considered first and foremost, and student learning and education are the primary concern. This environment produces consistently solid test scores, because students learn and understand the process of learning. The staff and administration strive to involve parents in the learning process, and parents are a vital part in creating and maintaining the educational program.
The staff and community demonstrate their dedication to the needs of all students in many ways from the school-community goal-setting process to the variety of support and extracurricular programs made available to every child. All students have access to a balanced, comprehensive, Standards- aligned curriculum. Those students who need extra support to access curriculum receive it in a variety of ways, especially via research-based instructional practices. Staff or parents identify students who need extra support, and then the whole teaching staff collaborates on creating a structure for that support. This takes place at weekly staff meetings, and might include such things as referrals to counseling or intervention programs.
At Fieldbrook, we have the right mix of strengths, accomplishments, and community support to make our students successful in life.
