About Our School
San Dimas High School is one of two comprehensive high schools in the Bonita Unified School District. Built-in 1970, San Dimas High School is accredited by WASC and serves 1368 students. It is the only comprehensive high school in San Dimas.
San Dimas High School focuses on the Bonita unified school district's vision of preparing every student to live their purpose. Providing opportunities for parents to help guide their students to be successful in high school and beyond. San Dimas High School staffing is 31.5:1 ratio with a six-period day and one intervention class for students not showing success in their classes. The first Tuesday of every month is used for teachers to work together in different academic areas. There are four minimum days for final examinations. San Dimas High School recognizes academic achievement through various assemblies such as Renaissance rallies and other artistic pursuits.
The school offers math intervention classes during the school day and Saturday academies. Students have the opportunity to improve grades and make-up credits in APEX after school and during the school day. The school contracts with Mt. San Antonio College for make-up and accelerated summer school and dual enrollment classes.
SDHS serves a wide array of students. The programs at SDHS include English Language Learners, Specialized Academic Instruction, Autistic, Adult Transition, and Functional Academic Skills Training classrooms. Students in Specialized Academic Instruction classes have the opportunity to be in a co-teaching environment based on their needs. Honors, special event field trips, AVID, and an extensive AP program is offered to all students. Currently, 41% of the students that attend San Dimas are Socioeconomically Disadvantaged.
San Dimas High School continues to be recognized every year as a top school by US News and Reports. In 1999, 2003, and 2009, San Dimas High School received recognition as a California Distinguished School. SDHS won the coveted Golden Bell from the California School Board Association for its award-winning Animation Program. This four-year program is articulated for college credit and provides state of the art training in all aspects of Animation.
Academics continue to be the focus at SDHS. Following the 2020-21 school year, 97% of SDHS seniors graduated. In 2018-19 the total number of AP tests taken was 732, with 62.1% of the students receiving a 3+ or better. In 2019-20 San Dimas scored 61.6 points above the standard score on the English Language portion of the State California CAASPP test. Mathematics was -34.6 points below the standard score on the California CAASPP test SDHS is 61.9% prepared as shown on the new college and career indicator. 43.8% of the English Learners are making significant progress.
